La segunda ronda de la Encuesta BID/Cornell Coronavirus hace un seguimiento a la encuesta BID/Cornell Coronavirus de la primera ronda en donde se recolectó información relacionada a los impactos de la pandemia del Covid-19 en los mercados laborales, seguridad alimentaria, distanciamiento social, y conocimiento acerca de los síntomas y formas de contagio del Coronavirus. El objetivo principal de la segunda ronda fue hacer un seguimiento a los hogares partícipes de la primera ronda, recolectando información más detallada de ingresos y activos de los hogares, así como también datos de beneficiarios de programas sociales existentes antes de la pandemia, inclusión financiera, preferencias políticas y comportamientos relacionados con el Covid-19 en general. El procedimiento de recolección de datos de la segunda ronda, así como su divulgación, se llevaron a cabo de la misma forma que para el caso de la primera ronda. Los datos de las dos rondas de la encuesta se unieron para crear un panel de datos a nivel de hogar. Al realizar un ejercicio de correlación entre participación en la segunda ronda y características demográficas, encontramos que ser mujer aumentó la probabilidad de participar en la segunda ronda de la encuesta. Así mismo, personas con un nivel de educación más alto y con mayores ingresos fueron más propensas a participar en la segunda ronda. Acorde con estos resultados, encontramos también una correlación positiva entre tener 40 años en adelante y participar en la encuesta de seguimiento. Los datos del panel de datos son útiles para analizar efectos de la pandemia en situaciones y preferencias más detalladas de los hogares dentro de un país y entre países. Se incluyen ponderadores que corrigen diferencias en el tamaño de la muestra entre países y proveen una mayor ponderación a las observaciones de países con mayor población.

Social Indicator is a diverse dataset of indicators designed to capture social conditions in Latin America and the Caribbean. The indicators are derived from national household survey data, Censuses, and other sources covering 21 countries from 1990 to date. While the Sociómetro includes traditional global indicators, the database also includes tailor-made indicators in five areas: Demographics, Education, Labor Market, Housing, and Income, to better capture conditions in LAC.

Moreover, unlike traditional aggregate indicators, the Sociómetro indicators are disaggregated by ethnicity and race (when available) and by gender, geographic residence, education, and income quintile.

The management and implementation of the Sociómetro are provided by the Social Sector (SCL) of the Vice Presidency of Knowledge and Sectors to strengthen the analytical content of projects and studies. The indicators are not intended to serve as official data for any particular country but instead aim to provide a comparable set of social indicators for the Latin American region.

Crime is a major problem in Latin America and the Caribbean. With 9 percent of the world's population, the region accounts for 33 percent of global homicides. This dataset makes extensive new survey data available to help identify what anti-crime policies citizens in the region demand from their governments, as well as who is demanding what and why. Data from Americas Barometer study were collected in 2016–17 and refer to the subsample of 17 countries in Latin America. The IADB–LAPOP–Capital Cities Project includes data collected from 2017, between August and September. A total of 6,040 interviews in seven countries were conducted as part of the project (Chile, Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Uruguay). El conjunto de datos se contextualiza en el marco regulatorio vigente de la educación superior en Bolivia. Se tiene información de la evolución del número de estudiantes de universidades públicas como privadas: nuevos, matriculados y titulados por área de conocimiento y carrera profesional, en los nueve departamentos del país a lo largo del periodo 2001-2016. La fuente de información es el Ministerio de Educación y el Comité Ejecutivo de la Universidad Boliviana (CEUB).

This dataset contains longitudinal data collected on child development outcomes, child characteristics, and parental and home characteristics on 937 children living in a representative sample of low- and low-middle-income households in Bogota, Colombia. The first round of data was collected in 2011 when 1,311 children ages 6-42 months were given the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development (Bayley-III) by psychologists and were randomized to receive one of two batteries of short tests under survey conditions. In 2016, at 6-8 years, 940 of these children were found and given tests of IQ (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, WISC-V) and school achievement (arithmetic, reading, and vocabulary) by psychologists. These 937 children, excluding outliers, constitute the analysis sample of the paper Predictive validity in middle childhood of short tests of early childhood development used in large scale studies compared to the Bayley-III, the Family Care Indicators, height-for-age, and stunting: A longitudinal study in Bogota, Colombia by Marta Rubio-Codina and Sally Grantham-McGregor, forthcoming at PLOS ONE. This dataset contains information on Programa Nacional Cuna Más (Cuna Mas, hereinafter), Peru’s largest early childhood development program established in 2012. It focuses on one of the two services provided by Cuna Mas known as Servicio de Acompañamiento a Familias (SAF), a home visiting program that operates in rural areas and provides one-hour weekly home visits to children aged 0-36 months and their caregiver.

At the IDBG Annual Meeting in 2016, the Board of Governors resolved to endorse the goal of increasing the financing of climate change related projects in LAC to 30% of the IDB’s and IIC’s combined total approvals operations by 2020, subject to demand from borrowing countries and clients and access to external sources of concessional financing.

During 2016, the IDB Group invested approximately US$2.7 billion in climate finance; that is, in development activities carried out by the public and private sectors that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and thus mitigate climate change, and/or that reduce vulnerability to climate change and contribute to an adaptation process. This amount represented 22% of the IDB Group’s total approvals.
